Dec 20, 2018 · Last week, Kentucky-based hemp processor GenCanna Global USA Inc. announced plans to build a $40 million processing plant at Mayfield in western Kentucky. The venture is expected to create 80-plus jobs and a new market for area hemp producers.
The Kentucky Department of Agriculture (KDA) has approved 209 applications from growers who plan to cultivate up to 12,800 acres of industrial hemp for research purposes in 2017, nearly triple the number of acres that were approved for the previous year.
